Big Game Hunting

New in 2010, I will be offering a very limited amount of guided hunting trips in Western Nebraska.  The focus will be mainly on trophy Mule deer and Antelope on private property only and will include all lodging, meals and transportation to and from the field.

Mule deer and Antelope are my other passion besides fishing, and I truly love going after these crafty animals.  The success that I have had over the last 2 years have been spectacular, in that time I have put 3 animals in the Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young books!  These are animals off the same land you will be hunting on if you decide to come hunt with Great Plains Guide Service.  I will work hard to get you the animal of your dreams as well, and with over 12 years of outfitting experience I will guarantee you a professional and exciting hunt.

Mule Deer:

We will focus our efforts around the rifle season which typically is in mid November.
Hunts will take place on private property and will be fair chase only.
Some of the country is very rough and inaccesible with a truck, so many of these hunts will be spot and stalk and will require some hiking.
We will be looking for nothing less than a mature buck, 5x5 muleys should be the standard.  If we see something other than that you want to take, we will make that decision in the field.
You will need a "statewide buck", or "Plains tag.
2 day trip minimum.

Antelope:

These hunts will cater to archery, muzzleloader and rifle.
Residents only for muzzleloader-state does not issue non-residents tags currently

Archery hunts will take place over waterholes and blinds, typically season starts around August 20th, 2010,
all blinds will be set up on proven waterholes at least 2 weeks prior to season opener and waterholes monitored by trail cams.
Archery tags are statewide.
3 day trip minimum.

Muzzloader and rifle hunts will be spot and stalk style, we will get on a high vantage point and glass with swarovski optics and leica
binoculars to spot the trophy you want, then attempt to stalk into range and take the animal.  Make sure you are profficient at shots up to
300 yards with a rifle and at least 150 yards with a muzzleloader.
Muzzleloader tags will be "Prairie Muzzleloader"
Rifle tags will be "Box Butte".
2 day trip minimum.

In addition to the guided hunt, I can film your hunt from start to finish.  I will then professionaly edit the raw footage into a exciting dvd complete with music and narration of your choice to share with friends and family for years to come.  This is a awesome way to remember your hunt.

Have a North Platte unit Elk tag?  Give me a call and we can discuss options for outfitting your Elk hunt as well as getting it on film for you.
